John Mellencamp

Under the topic of “In Case You Missed It”:

Today, I was watching CBS This Morning and saw a segment about John Mellencamp. John has resonated with Scott and I for most of our lives. One of Scott’s favorite sayings comes from John. “I’ve got two moods: I’m either pissed off or I’m alright . . .” Needless to say our spiritual journey has helped to mellow us out and perhaps Mellencamp too.

While watching the segment, my legs started to tingle and I got a powerful spiritual realization about him. In the 1980s, he was approached by an older woman on a New York street. She asked him, “Do you know how many angels are around you?”
“What?” He asked, baffled.

“You are covered with protection!” She proclaimed. At the time, he didn’t understand what she meant, but the future would hold the answers.

Later he found out that he survived a rare birth defect, spina bifida. His neurosurgeon did a lifesaving and pioneering “guinea pig” surgery on him. Two others, born at the same hospital with the same defect, did not survive adolescence, let alone to their 60s like John. John said, “I am lucky to be here.”

Mellencamp then went on to say, “Now looking back on her saying that, seeing what I have seen, maybe I believe it”

Recently, he met the 97 year old surgeon who saved his life. John said, “And basically we talked about faith . . . cuz I have very little faith. . . in anything. He just kept grabbing my hand and saying, John you need to find faith. I am trying to take his advice to heart. . . find faith in something.”

The reason I bring this to your attention, and perhaps the reason it hit my radar, is that spiritual messages can be everywhere - on the streets of New York City, to Super Stars, and in the grasp of the elderly. John Mellencamp may have been marketing his new album and tour that starts in January, but I caught a different message, a message about faith and about other things that are less tangible.

What is that sound?????

A friend of mine confided in me that she had heard music the prior night.  My first thought was that it was her angels or guides speaking to her in her dreams.  She said it wasn't a dream and she remembers looking around her bedroom for the source of the very soft music.  She couldn't figure out the source.

At breakfast, her husband (who had been sleeping in another room due to a snoring issue) asked her if she had heard the music last night.  He thought perhaps she had been playing music in the bedroom.  They discussed it and were confounded as to the source of the very soft music.

Evidently, as the week went on, she heard more noises that she didn't have an explanation for.  She asked me what I thought when she heard babies crying.  Hard for me to tell since I believe it has to do with her "filter" system and her heavenly helpers.

I told her how my belief system would explain her experiences.  I'm not sure if she is clairaudient or if she is receiving messages from her angels or spirit guides.  I asked her what those sounds mean to her and that would be a start to finding meaning for her.

The uber kewl thing is that her husband heard the music too and he shared it with her.  I would think that there might be many explanations for this experience....a shared dream, angels/guides speaking to them as a couple...

Although confounding....it is comforting and I believe, a glimpse in wonderment at the veil between our "worlds".

Energy, Spirit, Angels, Guides and Ascended Masters, et al

Last night at our Energy Lab meeting while dowsing, we discussed how people perceive the presence of Energy, Spirit, Angels, Guides and Ascended Masters, etc in their midst and lives.  Several people said they have felt the presence and actions of angels, etc in their lives for many years….they just know they are there…they can feel it.  These “energies” are real for them because they “know”.

I didn’t get it.  It was suggested that I quit trying so hard and just “be” and allow and it will happen.  One person applied this concept to my personal life, and asked would I be able to sense my husband of 36 year standing next to me in a pitch black room…  I looked at him and said yes, I think I would.  So I believe that I can feel the energy of certain things, situations….and I want to “calibrate my sensors” to pick up angels etc. 

It could be that I push so hard to understand “things” that that might be limiting me but that is another topic altogether and I believe there is “truth” there.  I do feel it is difficult to be me at times, so for me to just "be" is a hard concept…..I feel I am rambling and getting circular so I will get down to my point.

As I was listening to the people in my group talking about how they sense Energy, Spirit, Angels, Guides and Ascended Masters, et al.  I know they were telling me their truth, but it was all different.  I was reminded about the story of the blind men and the elephant.  I believe it is an Indian story about several blind men who are touching and describing an elephant.  One describes the tail, one the ears, one the tusk and so on.  The story is a metaphor for how I believe we experience the energy of the universe; the story can be about conflict and/or resolution.  Each of us “feels” it differently and there could be some “ego” attached to some people who  know what they feel…so they must be right about the elephant…..energy.

I propose to myself and you, that we are all blind, feeling our way, witnessing what we experience and that the “elephant in the room” is the universe and all of its mysteries….uniquely unfolding for each of us.
